Be on time. Early is better.

Print nicely and spell correctly.

Speak clear, understandable English. No gum chewing. Make eye contact.

Use your manners. The secretary that checks you in may be asked how you behaved while you waited.

Comb your hair and it had better not be some freaky color.

Wear clothes that fit you and cover your body. No belly shirts, tank tops, flip flops or saggy pants with you undies hanging out.

Thank your interviewer for their time and shake hands. Females shake hands too.

Send a follow up letter saying thank you for the interview and that you are still interested in the job.

I'm a manager.....find something you want to do, check the web for interviewing questions so you can practice what an employer is going to ask you, when you show up for an interview you need to have information with you!! Social security #, References etc get a job application off the web or at a business so you can see the questions and have the information to complete it. Bring a Pen! Be relaxed, dress appropriately and make a good impression and soon you'll get the job!

We hire summer students every year. We give first consideration to those who have worked for us in past summers. The NEW students we hire have to create an impression at the first stage interview or they will not be asked back for the second stage testing phase.
1) This is a business DO NOT SHOW UP IN YOUR SWIM SHORTS! Or any other inappropriate clothing. Look professional.
2) Do not chew gum or bring food or drinks into the interview room.
3) Be honest. Be yourself.

Good luck! (where are you...we are hiring)

i found it difficult when i was first looking for a job as a teenager to find employers who were willing to hire kids. They wanted adults who would provide a good image for the company, have experience, and be able to handle responsibility. Show employers that your age is a benefit to the company, not a weakness. One of the reasons some companies tend to hire younger inexperienced people is that they are willing to work their way up within the company without an ego and start at the bottom (for a small salary). Show employers that you want to take on every task to get experience and that you are responsible and dependable.

Pay attention to your appearance. You might feel that it infringes on your right to express yourself but that is the price you have to pay to get a job. Take out excessive piercings and wear neat, clean, plain clothing. Make a resume, and go out and ask for a job. Ask and ask. When you do get a job do your job as well as you can, ask questions and treat the company like you would if you owned it. Then maybe one day you will. Be on time, remember your manners and try to be enthusiastic. Good luck.

Think hard before getting that tattoo or piercing.

Act mature. Demonstrate you're a responsible person.

Most employers like to see you have reliable transportation. Don't let "can't get a ride" be an excuse for you to not to work.
