Thinking of starting a bar called b.y.o.b,you pay $20 to get in...but you bring your own booze, and i put recycle containers for the bottles and can so i can profit on those as well,i'll only need 1 waitress, since she's not serving drinks, just one for food service, and i was thinking of making the bar look like a house, with couches and video games,so it feels like your drinkng with friends at home.

It is a good idea, but many will not want to bring their own beer because they will have to hold on to all the beer they want to bring. You should consider some kind of a locker-fridge idea so that a lot of alcohol can be brought in by one person or group to be stored for later and not stolen. You will need more than just one waitress even if you are just serving food. You need someone to cook, wash dishes, and check I.D.s at the door. Even if it is b.y.o.b., you are legally liable to check the ideas of the people at your establishment. You will also want to consider having alcohol available for purchase, other wise you will miss out on people who just want to go somewhere for a quick drink with friends but do not want to go to a store to buy it before getting to the bar.

Think of a system of pricing. $20 if you bring your own alcohol and do not plan on buying food. $10 if you bring your own alcohol but plan on buying food. $0 if you will buy alcohol and/or food. The entrance cost gets you a storage locker to store your alcohol.

Remember that the hospitality business requires a lot of social skill and patience. Have fun!!

Your local alcohol laws have to specifically allow this and $20 is too much. We have one like that near my house but it is a strip club. They do it that way because if the bar serves alcohol girls must wear G-strings and Pasties but total nudity is allowed if the bar does not serve the beer.
That place has total nudity, is just outside of two major metropolitan areas and only charges $12.00 to get in.

I think that I would walk around the corner to where my $20 would actually buy some booze.

don't forget about music and dancing, pool tables. BSing with friends will only last so long. that'll add to the overhead. also you'll need bouncers/id checkers. alot more to consider
