OK, I'M ALMOST 19 YEARS OLD AND I WEIGH 135-140LBS (IT FLUCTUATES DAILY). I HAVE A SLIGHT PUDGE (GUT) AND MOVING TOWARD TOWARD A SIZE 7 JEANS (KEEP IN MIND THAT I AM BLACK [AFRICAN AMERICAN] SO I AM PRETTY CURVY... EVERYWHERE). I WEIGHED 120LBS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I WAS HAPPY WITH THAT SIZE AND I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN THAT WEIGHT BECAUSE I EXERCISED DAILY DUE TO CHEERLEADING PRACTICE. NOW THAT I AM IN THE REAL WORLD, MY JOB AND MY EDUCATION IS PREVENTING ME FROM GETTING THE EXERCISE THAT I AM USED TO. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I AM NOT A LAZY PERSON AND LOVE TO EXERCISE BUT I'VE BEEN SO EXHAUSTED LATELY. I AM REALLY SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT MY WEIGHT BECAUSE I WAS TEASED FOR BEING HEAVY UP UNTIL 7TH GRADE. TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE, SINCE I'VE GAINED THE WEIGHT MY DAD JOKES THAT I'M GETTING "FLUFFY" AGAIN. MY BOYFRIEND OF THREE YEARS SAYS THAT HE LIKES ME JUST THE WAY I AM, BUT I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY WEIGHT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

OH YEAH, MY DOCTOR SAID THAT MY BMI (BODY MASS INDEX) IS PERFECT. HELP ME!

My dear...I don't think by your description that you are overweight and your doctor has confirmed it. It's also great that your boyfriend is supportive too! I do know what you mean about feeling unhappy with your weight just for yourself. You don't have to have a crazy exercise routine to stay fit...whenever you get a break from work or school...go for a walk. Also I would have a sit down with your Dad about how his comments make you feel even if he is just joking. If you are making wise meal choices and getting at least 20 mins of physical daily activity...you are gonna be alright. From one girl to another--Good luck beautiful girl!

if your boyfriend likes you the way you are and if your doctor says your weight is perfect you shouldn't worry. as for your dad, puch him. No just kidding don't do that. i am 20 years old and i weigh 140. the ideal weight for our age is from 135 - 165lbs. you said you are at 135, that's perfect!!! i wish i could be that! lol. Also you don't want to look anorexic either. so becareful when you try to lose weight don't over do it you can really hurt yourself..

good luck

what is your height?
with 5 feet tall, start with 100 lbs, then add 5 pounds per inch above 5 feet. let's say you're 5"5, 5 inches X 5 = 25 + 100 = 125 <-- this is your ideal body weight. it doesn't have to be exact, put 5 -10 pounds of room in between.

I am 34 and consider myself attractive. I'm currently 190 lbs and yes I do work out and working on eating less and losing but I was 130 lbs when I was 19 and when I was In school I thought I was fat. Girl let me tell you. I look back on my high school pictures and now I realize, I was fine as hell, sure people told me but I didn't beleive it. step outside your self and know YOUR WORTH. I'd give anything to be my previous weight again. LOVE YOURSELF, and I mean Really LOVE YOURSELF.

I don't think your overweight, you are stressing for nothing girl, too self conscious and over reacting.. If your man likes it, you got nothing to worry about..Just keep track of your weight for the next few months, and see if your gaining...if you are, then you must be doing something wrong..Just be care full and watch what you eat. Good luck, and i hope you feel better..

If your health is not in danger, then the only person you have to please is yourself. Start exercising again, it will get you energy level back up. Take walks around campus between classes or walk instead of drive places. Five minutes here and there throughout the day is much better than nothing.
