In my opinion, 1982, most definitely!
The best Brazil I've ever seen, with Zico, Sócrates, Falcão, Éder, Júnior, Leandro;
The best Italy I've ever seen, with Rossi, Zoff, Scirea, Antognoni, Conti, Tardelli, Cabrini, Altobelli;
The best France I've ever seen, with Platini, Giresse, Genghini, Tigana, Tresor, Rocheteau;
The best Germany I've ever seen, with Rummenigge, Littbarski, Hansi Muller, Magath, Breitner, Briegel, Stielike, Schumacher;
The best game I've ever seen: Germany vs. France, semifinals;
Good teams from Polland, Belgium, USSR, England, Argentina;
Great underdogs surprising the world: Cameroon, Algeria, Honduras
Unbelievable players, unbelievable games, unbelievable scores. Hard to beat...

So-so is an understatement. 1970 was good QF on but group play was lousy. For an entire tourny I dug 1978 and 1982. The atmosphere in Argentina was electric. Even matches not involving the Argies had some thrills and loads of long-range bombed-in goals.
1982 had some amazing soccer. The 3-3 France-WG SF, the 3-2 Rossi hat trick vs. the most exciting Brazil team ever, the Final itself. Bunch of group matches were exciting--N.Ire beating Spain, Cameroon's first foray, etc.

The best world cup is NO world Cup...I mean seriously...the highest scoring games seem to be..........0-0 (sarcastically speaking). Apart from the persons playing the sport, which they are VERY athletic, it has to be the most dullest sport to watch, right next to Curling in the Olympics...I don't see how people can watch such a low scoring, ALL defensive game...plus the field is WAY to long....of course they aren’t going to score...they are tired as hell...who wouldn’t be!!!

of direction the final international Cup replaced into greater effective whilst in comparison with this one right here; I actual have been to Germany in 2006. different than for the gamers each and every thing regarded in any different case. It replaced into yet another continent with distinctive human beings and as properly the economic gadget replaced into distinctive. i think of that maximum folk could trust me, yet you're able to desire to grant the Africans a gamble. anybody theory that this international Cup could be a flop e.g. protection subjects etc, yet they have shown that they are able to additionally organise a international Cup. actually i could desire to work out a greater robust attendance interior the international Cup fits, yet by no skill forget that the international Cup occurs interior the poorest continent interior the international (and that is not that undesirable for the 1st observe Cup isn't it?) it somewhat is a shame, that maximum of great gamers did no longer come to this international Cup, yet maximum of them belong to the previous era e.g. Ronaldo, Zidane. Figo, Raul etc. Now, it somewhat is time for youthful gamers to advance to international stars.

I personally liked '94. It had some of the nicest goals I can remember. This answer has nothing to do with it being held in the USA, I just remember a few goals that were mind boggling. In particular a stunning goal by Lothar Matthaus from Germany... god, I will never forget that!!!
