Will was supposed to fight a guy at the basketball court. His mom had him leave before he could fight the guy. She wanted better for him. According to the song in the opening of the show it was because "I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-air". But we learned from one of the later episodes, when Will goes to Philly to visit, that he took off before the fight happened. They began to call him Chicken Will and named a sandwich after him at a local eatery called the Will which was" a chicken sandwich to go". Will is so embarrassed by what everyone thinks of him during his vist that he trys to pick a fight with the oversized bully that he was suppossed to fight when he took off to Cali. The guy would not fight him no matter what Will did because he had grown up and changed his ways over the years and worked with inner city youth to prevent gang violence.

He got in a fight and his mom got scared and she sent him to live with his aunt in Bel-Air. As for the prince part, rich people live there, big houses, etc. Made him feel like a prince.

If you listen to the theme song, he talks about going to Bel-Air because he got in a fight with boys in his neighborhood and his mother had enough of it and sent him to Bel-Air.
