I am 36 and returning to college this fall. At first the biggest barrier was being a single mom without any assistance from the father, so I didn't have the time. Then I got married and had two more children, I chose to wait until they were in school to save money and to just be home with them while I was able to.

I went back to school after being out for 16 years. I was scared to go back, because I didn't think I could handle the tests. I was always bad at tests. I ended up making the deans list ever semester and had a 3.85 GPA. I was so proud of myself.

I'd say it's a tie between lack of time if you have a full time job, or unwillingness to live on less income if you decide to work part time and go to school full time.
