i am looking at summit racing and notice they have a hell of a deal on some mufflers and converters...do they have to be a specific type for my 84 chevy?in the catalog it shows mufflers and converters that i want to get but i just wnat ot be sure they fit or work with an 84 chevy...

you have to get the size that fits on your exhaust pipes. The mufflers can be taken to a muffler shop and flared out a couple of inches or so if you need to do that...also, are you keeping your catylitic converter? how are you going to have these mufflers attached to your exhaust pipes? welded, brazed, or clamped?

if its a v8, go with flowmasters. recommed 40 or 50 series
