Bicycle Race was a hit single for the British rock band Queen. It was released on their 1978 album Jazz and written by Queen vocalist and pianist Freddie Mercury.
The song was inspired by the Tour de France, a long-distance bicycle race held once a year in France. Mercury was in a hotel watching the Tour de France go by his hotel one day when he was inspired to write "Bicycle Race". To release this song, Queen staged a bicycle race with 65 naked girls. A clip from this race was used as the single cover. The song is famed for its 'bicycle bell solo'.
It was released with the song "Fat Bottomed Girls" on the B-Side.
Trivia
This song was covered by Lemon Demon and was released on the bonus tracks to his Damn Skippy album in 2005.
There is some confusion to some of the lyrics of this song. Some mistake the line, "You say god, gimme a choice" with "You say car, give me a choice"
