Why is it when a door is open it's ajar , but when a jar is open, it's not adoor?

because a jar is to small to be adoor

because when you combine an "a" and "jar" it transforms to a new word "ajar". when you combine an "a" with "door" and try to make it "adoor", you transform into "amoron"
