The GOP is in control and they are becoming Fascist... No question about it!
Responders: Listen up! Read Karl Marx: The Communist Manifesto and read Adolph Hitler: Mein Kamph. Then look into the characteristics or Socialism and Fascism. Then think about what you read and compare it to our government and the current policies and situation. What you will find is that the Socialists/Communists are very close to the Liberal Democrats and Fascism is very close to the Neo-Cons and Republicans. This is not a criticism but it is the reality. Study your history from post World War 1 through post World War 2. It was a World War but the basic conflict was between Fascist Germany and the Communist Soviet Union. Fascism failed in Nazi Germany and Communism failed in the Soviet Union but both systems have worked in various parts of the world. The two systems cannot exist on the same pitch. The nature of these systems will lead to conflict... Be wary of what you wish for!

Labels like "fascist" don't really add much to the discussion of the problem. Does it matter whether the government is "fascist" or "communist" or whatever? Doesn't it matter a lot more whether the government is responsive to the people with respect to the real issues that matter to our lives?
Our current government is extremely dysfunctional, though there probably have been other times in our history when it was this bad. The current House of Representatives though is clearly the worst U.S. government "body" in my lifetime: it makes the Bush Adminstration look downright pro-American. The current focus on various scapegoats (immigrant, non-English speakers, homosexuals, and even non-existent flag-burners) clearly shows that the members of the House have chosen to act in ways that will keep them in power at the expense of the United States. We should not be tolerating this. The Congress does not exist as a for-profit institution, and all of this campaigning on the public dime is simply wrong.
