Don't show the thumbs-up. A nice gesture here but it literally means "up yours" in many countries.

The get really offended if you show them the soles of your feet, Arabs do at any rate, I haven't been to Egypt just other Middle Eastern countries. Oh, but I remember it was a Morocan in the UAE who told me jsut how offencive this was. Like don't stick your feet up on a chair or something.

Not being one to say insults in an open forum, I'll give you a link to a website that will give you plenty of insults in Arabic. Just be sure not to use these words openly unless you are looking for a fight!

It is considered impolite to fart in a crowded elevator, to wipe ur *** with someones sweater or to pee in someones iced tea.
