Synchronous menstruation was first described in 1971 by researchers McClintock and Stern. It is a proven occurrence, borne out by additional studies. Though they are still unclear as to exactly why it occurs, the most widely accepted theory is that it is due to pheromones. Others think it's due to some evolutionary carry-over from prehistoric times, when it was common for men to take multiple mates to ensure the survival of the species, but the pheremone theory makes more sense...

Yes that is very true! Especially if you live in the same place as the other person...like in a dorm for college or a cabin for a long summer camp. It is because of hormones that are secreted into the air and the "strongest" girl makes the other girls in sync with her which is kind of funny.

It's happened to me and 2 of my sisters. We're back to back now. Since only 1 out of the 3 of us is regular though, we're never in any particular order, but always back to back in a row. It's weird to me....

yes it's true, don't necessarily have to be hanging out all the time. Happened with me and my sisters, and also happened with me and the other females on my night team at work!! Amazing, isn't it!

actually it is true, but not for everyone.
women who spend a long time together often snyc up to eachother's hormones and that ends up syncing the period.

Yes, this is true -- the phenomenon is called "synchronous menstruation." They suspect it's due to pheromones.
