Are you trying to be "nice" and not kill the mice?? Sorry that doesnt work. Thats like saying to a country were not gonna kill the invaders but just repel them. Ok now that that is clear the best way is to use Stick Traps. They are black plastic trays with EXTREMELY strong glue. It's what I use, and they are much more effective then the mouse traps that snap the neck on the mouse. However the mice will die a relativly painful death of starvation and fear.

There are several electronic devices on the market that do a good job keeping these critter's away.
Basically the device transmits a high frequency sound wave which in inaudible to humans, but annoying to the little fury mice. It won't kill them, rather it makes the area covered by sound waves uncomfortable and they'll move out.
Be sure to purchase a unit adequate to cover the square footage of your attic.

When I lived at home with the family, we had mice problems a lot. We also had a dog and a cat and we've come to realize that the mice were around because of the dog food and cat food lying around. Make sure the surroundings of your house is clean. Hide any dog/cat food in closed containers, clean dish bowls. We did and the mice stopped coming. And hopefully it would work with you if you have pets. If you dont have pets, look around in the garage and backyard for any substance mice would be attracted to and clean up.

Invite them downstairs for cheese.

Call the Crocodile Hunter.
Play Britaney Spears music until it makes their little ears bleed.
Make your attic into a condo and raise the rent.
Apply for College and enrole as many of them as you can afford.
Dress them in little devil costumes and tell the local exorcist that your house is possessed.
Teach them to hand glide and shut the windows so they cant come back in.
Put a can of peas inside a cage, when they go to take a pea then you lock them up.
Put pepper on a rock. They will sneeze and knock themselves out. Then you scoop them up and send them far away.

Well, don't be so quick to be kindhearted and merciful. Mice will chew your electrical wires eventually, possibly causing a housefire - would you feel so compassionate then? LOL Try setting off a smoke bomb and then seling all the places they run out of with caulking. You might have to contact a pest company for the smoke bomb.

A cat. Even the smell of the cat will keep the mice away.

its not exactly repelling them but you can buy humane mouse traps- or just fill in all the holes on the attic walls that dont belong there

if you don't kill them they keep coming back. you really need to find the nest and get rid of it and clean and spray the area. mice will eat anything. bananas catch mice good.
