Both men, both people I admire. My, how quickly we forget lessons we're supposed to learn from our past.

But, here goes:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Teddy Roosevelt

And:

"He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot." - Groucho Marx

Matt The Strong, look at my posts and at my answers. I'm a Moderate. All I'm doing is trying to help keep our government representing the majority, not the right or left.

Nuke Lefties, quoting one of the Marx Brothers was a little light-hearted humor. That you don't realize how or what the Marx Brother humor was all about strongly suggests that you are very out of step with mainstream America.

(One thing I dislike about both the far right and far left is that they both seem so humorless and irony is lost on them.)

Those quotes exemplify the freedoms we still maintain in our political system. Political criticism is not unpatriotic, and its the right (some would say duty) of all Americans. And celebrities will always leverage their stature in society to promulgate their political views.

It means that the moronic answers to this question (like the one above from Truth referring to caca or something) are perfectly within the expressive rights of everyone.

Praise the Lord for Teddy Roosevelt.

It looks like we have let this man down. As Americans we are all... Guilty of Treason!! For supporting...or...for not contesting the high crimes of the Bush Administration. In my opinion, President Bush should be immediately incarcerated and held without a reason for the rest of his life inside one of his own "Terrorist Prisons." No trial....No parole. Give this man a taste of his own medicine.

Don't get me wrong...Bush did "and is doing" what he thinks is
nessesary to keep America's economy stable. Indeed, it is working.....for now....but for how long? My point? I feel he could have achieved the same...if not better results by doing it the right way. Or a different way than the way he is choosing to do it. This man's flagrant disregard for our soldier's lives and the preservation of our environment is embarrassingly evident.

President Bush will have to live with his mistakes for the rest of his life. How can he presume any respect from his own wife, Laura and the people who make up his administration?

There must be more to this picture than meets the eye and I can only include this man in my prayers hoping he does something "Honorable" for the world before he leaves office.

Very good question....thank you brother...God Bless.

As for the first quote, this is always true. Can I ask you a question? Why are libs constantly saying they cannot question the Bush administration. Was there an official proclamation that I missed? By "we cannot criticize Bush" do the libs mean "No one is doing what I say" or "People are ignoring me?" Tell the truth now, who said libs cannot criticize Bush? Name names...

Update:

Hey, I wasn't addressing you personally, I meant my questions to any libs that care to think for a second. I hear this so often, that I would love for a real answer to appear. The fact that none has, is telling!

I've never heard anyone say that you aren't allowed to criticize the President. The lefts problem is they seem to think that people who don't agree with their criticism aren't allowed to criticize them back. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.

And the second quote just shows your lack of maturity and objectivity and doesn't deserve a response.

Mainstream America where? NY and California? It's just another attempt to bash the President. See my answer to your first quote.

They do.

Teddy had the right idea. He is our leader. But we as a nation have the right to not agree with everything. But think of how the "bad" people look at our nation's name calling and turning our back on the leader we did elect.

Groucho said the smartest thing ever.

Those quotes are certainly at the opposite end of the spectrum, aren't they? It is difficult to support someone totally who has done nothing but put our country into a conflict there is probably no way out of. I am sure, listening to him try to talk, that there are a lot of people pulling his strings. Should we actually support a puppet? I don't think so.

Yes, you are right. To be accused of treason because I do not support this president seems a bit communist.
This country is based on freedom of speech. I fully intend to use that freedom. Bush is an idiot.
Thanks for reminding me of the great people who made this country what it is.

These mean two things to me. 1.) Free speech is a valuable right that should not be taken away on any level. 2.) You probably don't like the President.

Nope, neither one applicable to any situation I can think of today.

Nobody has been telling others that it is wrong to criticize the president.

But it is wrong to lie about him. It is wrong to support the terrorists. That's just wrong. But that's what the Dems are doing.
