You don't, so try not to believe everything you read. There are predators everywhere, so be very careful about what you tell them, too. You may be revealing more than you know. And you could end up in major trouble if you're talking to the wrong person. I am in my 40s and could chat with you and convince you I am the same age as you, have the same problems and the same interests. Be wary, my dear.

You don't. You must always assume that they are lying in some way. This is an anonymous encounter with a stranger not a face to face where you can tell a little more by facial expression and body language.

You don't, so don't believe a word they tell you. If it sounds too good to be true, it is... not "probably is"... IT IS! In the world of online relationships, you have to be cynical or you risk being hurt, and not just emotionally. Be careful!

in general, i find you develop a sense from people and quickly decide whether or not to trust them based on your first impressions and until they give you reason to stop trusting....
