Yes, I know it sounds weird. But I have watched a few shows and noticed the tape. And if you are wondering, I am not a dork. Although, the show is awesome.

This is the way that they "call" one of their leaders (I forget his name). Kinda like the Bat Signal.

Mulder put that so he could get in touch with the black guy (no name). When Mulder was missing, Scully did it to draw the guy out and see if he had any info on Mulder. All the seasons are available on dvd. 9 of them. I got them all, of course. I am an X-Files junkie. Love the show and wish it was still on.

I like the show too. The white X on the window is a message for the "inside" guy to meet with them.

Here is a definite answer. There is a black guy nicknamed Mr. X. He is the one that gives Mulder (sometimes) real tips- (sometimes) misleading ones. He ends up getting killed in Mulder's hallway but before he dies, he writes a coded message in his own blood. The code leads Mulder to........oh-well. You'll have to find that out for yourself. Much more fun to see it than be told.

I think they use it as a signal for smoking man or one of the other informants. I have not seen that show in some time.

I believe it's when they need to speak with the Agency Informant (the Smoking Man or the Black Guy).

...IF I remember correctly.
