First of all, this "press enter or spacebar to activate" message has nothing to do with installing SP2 and any activeX such as Flash or even quicktime. It is because Microsoft's latest IE update on handling those activeX controls has many changes after Eolas copyright suit about activeX handling on IE. This change is also available in IE 7 as well. For more info, see source below.

Microsoft lost a patent lawsuit to a company called Eolas. The patent meant that Microsoft had to rewrite Explorer functionality for ActiveX controls in a slightly different way - they get around the patent by doing this:

i think it is because of windows xp service pack 2 if you have xp running.
it is because of the security options that are set to somewhat high level. it restricts the running of any active content on the computer through web or any other means. thus it asks for your permission to activate and use it or let it be deactivated.
it has an advantage. if there is any unwanted active content that may harm your computer, it stops that content and asks for your permissio thus if you dont activate it you are thus protected by that unsafe script.
and if you dont want this you can try setting your internet explorer's security level to a low one (although i would not recommend it) using : first open internet explorer
(tools>internet options>security>custom level)
have a nice day.

Let me guess. You have Windows Service Pack 2?
It's a security feature that they have.

I'm not one for IE so I just use FireFox. It won't have those annoying "click to activate" messages.
