I know that the one dollar bill is about 18 months, but i assume that because of its greater value, it's handled less and/or more carefully than a dollar.

years cause it is not handled that much. More people will have a $1.00 more so than a $100. Also most places wont take a $100 bill cause they don't have enough change to take it.
