They both are great one is a power forward the other a center. One has 3 rings the other 4 rings. Tim Duncan has been All NBA 1st team every year since his rookie year, all star every year since rookie year as well. Two time NBA MVP, and is still continuing. Shaquille O' Neal, he's been an all star 13 times in his career. 1 time NBA MVP, 4 rings, and was inducted into the 50 greatest players of the NBA class. Who's better right now? Who will be better after both their careers are over? Big man of the Decade!

I'm not a big NBA fan but what i realized that Shaq always needed that other player like Bryant and now Wade he couldn't do it in Orlando and i bet that if Shaq never had Bryant or Wade, Shaq would have no rings, and for Tim Duncan he was the real deal he can slow the game down and control the outcome of the game, clearly Tim Duncan was better then Shaq. and if id to chose a all-star team i would definitely chose Tim Duncan over Shaq, like I said Shaq needs another player to win.

I think Duncan is much better now, b/c Shaq is on the decline. I think Duncan has always been better, though. Duncan has the total package. Shaq has power. Admittedly, his power has served him well, but I think Duncan will have a longer career, b/c as he gets older and loses quickness, he'll be able to step out and rely on his jumpshot and passing ability. Shaq has the passing ability, but jumpshooting is not one of his assets. I won't be shocked if they meet in a Final before Shaq's career is over.

Tim Duncan

this one is not as easy because they play two different positions but if you look at Timmy did have d rob who was wanting real bad to win a championship in his last year and he has three finals MVP awards with one of them being kind of shady a lot of people think that that one should have went ot manu. on the other hand shaq has one more ring than timmy and i think it will stay that way with other teams upping their stock and when shaq had a young kobe not the one we see now. kobe only wanted to show off. shaq was undeniebly the finals mvp of his first 3 rings. but to answer the questions timmy is better now because his ability to always make the best decision on the court but when all is said and the day is over a lot of people are gonna remember shaq over timmy because shaq was a better player at his age than timmy and he's just and extrodinary big man

You almost made a point there, anyway I would have to take Duncan, he played with mainly one All of famer and when D. Rob was in the decline, Shaquille needed Kobe first, then Wade now two first ballot future all famers in my mind, don't get me wrong but Shaq can be stop physically, it is not easy ut it is doable, Duncan have more to his game than just power.

The best big man of this time is Shaquille O' Neal because he was the one that won the NBA title along with his team. He also had the second most points scored in the Heats' season.

I would have to say Tim Duncan . Yes they are both very good the tie breaker for me would have to be the free throws. I do not know how shaq can be eye level with the hoop and miss!!!

Although I've learned to like Shaq, I still have to go with Tim Duncan. Shaq is not consistent enough for my taste. Shaq did get his championship, but I still have to say Tim.

Shaquille O' Neal

As you point out they play different positions so it's not really fair to compare them. Duncan is a great player but in his prime O'Neal was as unstoppable a force as the game as ever seen. So I would have to say Shaq.
