Birth control pills do NOT prevent you from having your period. However, I've noticed that since I started taking pills (like 9 yrs ago) my period lasts only 2-3 days so it's kind of convenient that it's not longer and my GYN told me that it's normal for some women who take the pill.

I've never taken birth control peels. As for birth control pills, there are some on the market that make your periods less frequent.

Yes, they prevent you from having a period.

That is why they include sugar pills in the package. These "spacer pills" ARE NOT BIRTH CONTROL PILLS! If you never take them, you will not have a period.

In other words, if you want to avoid having a period, skip the spacer pills and go straight to the next package. If you want to have a period, then take the spacer pills.

NO. It doesn't prevent you from getting period but you have regular period and generally normal blood flow during mensturation, so many times birth control pills are used to regulate period or to prevent excessive blood loss during mensturation

No,that is kinda stupid question. They will containing your period to one week in the month and once the week is done your period for sure is done. Now that doesn't mean that you will have period for the entire week, but you will know exactly when to start expecting it.

Caro is completely wrong, they prevent you from getting pregnant not from having your period!

There are some birth control pills on the market that suppress your period indefinitely you need to speak to your doctor about it. Some women have very bad cramping that can cause scaring of the ovaries and in their cases its best to suppress their menstral cycle.

BCP's prevent ovulation(no egg is released) but your period is the elimination of the lining of your womb which thickens monthly just in case a fertilized egg is ready to implant and develop there.

If you want to skip your peroid while on birthcontrol you can . The last week of pills are just sugar pills. Those are the ones that you usually take while you are on your peroid. Instead of taking them start a new pack of pills and usually your body will skip your peroid. This comes in handy if you have a trip...or are getting married.

YES, THEY ARE MADE OUT HORMONES THAT CONVINCE YOUR BODY THAT YOU ARE ALREADY PREGNANT, THIS PREVENTS (USUALLY) AN EGG FROM ATTACHING TO YOUR UTERINE WALL. BIRTH CONTROL PILLS ARE ALSO USED TO REGULATE THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE OF WOMEN WHO HAVE EXCESSIVE BLEEDING OR IRREGULAR CYCLES.
