Do you really have to ask that question, even the number? Do you want me to tell you what page is it found? Come on, do a little work on your own :s

Are you looking for alpha or beta lactose?

I don't have the Merck Index numbers on hand, but you should be able to find it using the CAS number if you have Merck online.

for beta-lactose the CAS# is 5965-66-2

Hope this helps.
