If it starts with a jump, and dies when the jumper is removed, it is most likely the alternator is not charging. It may be a loose wire, or bad belt, but most likely it is the alternator itself that will need to be replaced!

It could be a fuse or fusible link. Strange if you can get it started with a jump but dies when you take the jumpers off as you indicate in you additional information. If you can charge the battery and see if you can start it then, maybe your battery is down because your alternator is not working.

Your battery terminals is a good place to start.

Disconnect the battery cables, and clean the connections.

Re-install and tighten.

If you still have the same problem, then chances are your alternator has gone bad.
In turn, it has damaged your battery.

Even though your battery appears to light some things, it does not have enough power to start the car.

Replace both.

Good Luck.

Do you have any power? Like lights or radio. If so it isn't your battery or alternator. It could be a faultily fuel line or fuel filter.

Most libraries carry car repair manuals specific to your vehicle. If your local library doesn't have it on the shelf, they may be able to order an inter-library loan from another library in their system. If you don't know anything about cars, you might want to have it towed to your mechanic and let them figure it out.
