the real war heros are all dead. sorry to say. and if you were lucky to make it back your not a hero. rather you are grateful and happy to be alive. But i suppose to the ones back home maybe you can be a hero. i had an uncle that was a sniper in ww2 and he came back messed up. never spoke about the war.

One of my grandfathers friend... he ran away cut one of is finger to keep beiing with his wife and kids.... he spent all wwII hiding, huting, fishing... working hard to feed his wife and kids.... and never got kild for a war that he felt like it was not worthed to die for.... when he was so in love with his wife and kids....

He is my hero....
