If you are familiar with a real estate agent in your area, ask them for a relocation packet and a reference in that area. they can be very help-full.

My wife and I used a site we found called homecharlotte.com that offers all types of properties that are for sale and rent, FSBOs, Agent listings, New construction. And info on the schools and neigborhoods. You can also ask the agents questions anonymously. We liked that our email was kept private until we were ready to go view a house.
The site is unbiased and pays 25% of their commission to you as a rebate and 10% more to charity.

You may want to contact the Chamber of Commerce there, and ask for them to send you some information. Different areas, schools, parks, churches etc.
