I wouldn't worry about it. Perhaps you are worried because of something you heard along the lines of, "your child should sleep on (pick a side) because it lessens the likelihood of crib death." But practically speaking, the (pick a side) seems to change every few years anyway. I'm not convinced it makes a huge difference either way. Whereas having your kid sleep reliably is a beautiful thing. If he's sleeping comfortably, I wouldn't be concerned.

Once a baby has the ability to roll over completely, they have the freedom to choose how they wish to sleep because the risk of SIDS is almost (if not all) gone. When babies learn to roll over well, they are also more aware if they cannot breathe (nose being pushed into the mattress) & will automatically readjust themselves. Don't worry about it, most children end up on their bellies :D

Both my kids have always slept on their stomachs. I couldn't keep them on their backs. As long as you don't have anything obstructing their airways, I find nothing wrong with it. I checked every now and again to make sure they were fine, just for my piece of mind, but other than that, there really isn't anything you can do. Just know that the baby is going to sleep the way they feel most comfortable. To be honest, I think a baby sleeps more soundly on their stomach, because they are more curled up. If you want to try a sleep positioner, you can, but a baby will find a way to turn over if they really want to. My son just turned one and NOW he finally sleeps on his back.

I had this same problem because my baby was so big for his age. His pediatrician said it was not really a problem so long as he did not have any pillow, blankets or stuffed animals in his crib that he could could his face into it. You can buy a back sleeper wedge that will prevent him from rolling over but my son hated it and would just cry and fight to roll over. Talk to your pediatrician if it really concerns you or if you are worried about SIDS.

He's fine, hon. Use common sense here...the reason that it is not good for infants to sleep on their tummies is that they could suffocate. If he can flip over, then if he cannot breathe, he will turn his head or turn over. Not a big deal. This is only an issue for babies that are too young to be able to fix it if they get flat on their face. If he can roll, he is fine. Dont worry!

No dont worry he will be fine.I lay my 5 month old daughter down on her back and she flips on her tummy all the time and shes ok.Let him sleep how he is comfortable.Or you wont get a good nights sleep either. If he can flip himself he has enough strength. Its really newborns you need to worry about. And remember dont put stuffed animals or comforters that they can get wrapped up in and suffocate in,in there cribs
good luck to ya

Mine does the same thing from 5 months on. Shes 6 months now. Its normal. You cant stand over their crib and keep turning them over all night. The risk of SIDS is alot lower now. Mainly for the first few months. And unless hes surrounded by blankets he can get his face stuck in...he will be fine. We all move around in our sleep. Belly is just more comfortable for him.

He will be fine. Once they can flip themselves, they are old enough to sleep however they want. I had two newborns who would only sleep on their bellies also. I could get 2-3 hours of sleep if they were on their belly, and 5-10 minutes if they were on their back. To this day they are still belly sleepers.

If your baby is old enough and strong enough to flip over, then the danger of SIDS is minimal. It is very, very important to not put any pillows in his crib or thick bedding that could suffocate him. Chances are he'll be OK at this age.
