In today's society, yes. Law enforcement and our justice system seems to have a license to do just about what they want, as long as they can get away with it.

The American people don't realize there civil rights are being violated and taken away at an alarming rate. When the public petitions lawmakers to deny smaller groups of people there rights it makes it easier and easier for them to take away other people's rights.

I believe if the minor is being questioned in connection with a crime, which was most likely the case, then again the answer is "yes". Otherwise why else would they question her. Your best bet is to check with an attorney

No they can question her all they want, it is up to the school to inform the police of the nature of the questioning. If your daughter did not want to answer the questions all she had to do was refuse to answer the questions, and ask for her parent to be called.
If I was her I would have asked for a lawyer, and as soon as they said she was not under arrest, I would have said good and walked out. They can't legally detain you unless you are under arrest.

Yeah that's legal. Even though the parent doesn't feel like it's right that the police are doing things without your concent they're allowed. I know this for a fact because it happened to me. Cops can make deals with your daughter without your consent and you wouldn't even have to know about it.

Not legal to do that without an adult consent. You need to speak to the school and find out who gave consent and take the matter from there.

no cause when you send your kids to public school the school has a quasi-gaurdienship over the child therefore if they asked the school for permission then it's ok.

Plus if you kid didn't do anything wrong why are you worried about the police asking her questions?? People like you pi** me off cause you do unlawfull stuff and then try to justify it by saying the police injured your rights!

I hope your kid goes to juvie!!!!!!

that is totally illegal. Anyone under the age of 18 can not be questioned by any member of law enforcement with a parent or guardian being present or getting your concent over the phone

If the police believe a crime has been committed, or one is eminent, they can question the juvenile without parental permission in the interest of expediency or emergency.

they should of tried to contact you every way possible, if they cant reach you they are still able to question the person. The minor could ask for a lawyer, and not answer anything but her name and address.
