Send an e-mail to your [ home ] using your Outlook Express postal system. Copy that message to your YAHOO address. If you get the message at both, it proves that the postman is delivering to your 'home' and that that your 'home' addy is acceptable to an 'outside' address.

Next send an e-mail to your 'home' using your Yahoo address. If it comes though on Outlook Express you know that your own address is valid.

Next! You say in your question "why is it that if my friends mail me i will not get it". How do you know they are sending messages if you don't receive them?

One:There is no way your friends will not get if you give wrong email address.
