Perhaps we’ll discover that most Americans aren’t that far apart when it comes to their core beliefs.
Without the far left or far right in the equation we’ll find most Republicans and Democrats pretty much want the same things, have the same hopes for their families and our future and share the same fears and doubts.
Don’t you think American politics has to move back towards the center if it’s to truly represent the majority again?

jesuslover, it was NOT the center that took prayer out of schools.
Perhaps you should also become a knowledgelover and a factlover?

That is why the election turnouts are at record lows. People don't care because the parties have become so polarized, to accentuate their differences, that they have totally forgotten about what is important to voters.
The democrats have become so leftist they are ignoring the will of their constituents and telling them to change also or you're not "true democrats" but are really neo-cons.
The republicans have likewise said that unless you follow the party line in lockstep you are not worthy of inclusion.
That leaves about 60 percent of the population wondering where the party that represents them is.

If politics were to move to the center, then we would have to give up the things we are most passionate about. I believe the only people in the center are those who don't have an opinion, which in my book makes them pretty spineless. You have to stand up for what you believe in or your beliefs will get trampled!
Take the prayer in schools issue. Christians sat on their butts and let prayer be taken out of schools. Prayer has been replaced with shootings, pregnancy, drugs and disrespect. Not such a great decision, huh?
The middle-man always tells both sides that they can each have what they want, and that just doesn't work!!
Much Love!!

Kind of,
i personaly don't think its a party issue, or a seperation issue.
i believe it is that the government has grown to big, the problem is its ability to control to much of individuals lives. I prefer the Libertarian Ideology. Smaller government, more states rights, and constitutionality...
oh btw, Income taxes, are unconstitutional.
Thanks FDR!

Yes. George Washington himself said that a two party system would tear us apart. We need to get rid of all of the party bullcrap and just be people with beliefs. If people voted for whatever they believed in instead of going with a party, we would have more competent people in the government, and things would be better.

I totally agree, but unfortunately the parties are abusing their power by excluding independents and other moderate parties from even joining debates and thus excluding them from exposure to the public eye. Without this exposure they are a long shot at best to get the vote.
