I am. He has had another stable night which is encouraging. On Saturday Dr Dean Richardson said "His heart rate and pulse are normal, and his appetite is good," Dr. Dean Richardson said Saturday in a statement issued by the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center. "He continues to respond well, looks good and has a positive attitude."

The disease is a serious one and if it were to occur in another limb, he would be put down. It will take six months of treatment before he is out of the woods. The enclosed Forbes story reports "Since Barbaro's vital signs are good and his condition has stabilized for two days, there is a glimmer of hope.

"When a horse is like this they have tendency to start going downhill very quickly," Dr. Rick Arthur, a prominent veterinarian on the California thoroughbred circuit, said. "If they level off at all, I think we always get very encouraged."

Barbaro is still fighting, still hanging in there! He has spirit like no other horse, and thousands of people who love him!
There is a great website maintained by a trainer at Fair Hill Training Center. The address is http://www.timwoolleyracing.com/
They have the most awsome, inside info on this beautiful, incredible animal.
Yes, his condition is still serious, and could change at any time. But he is trying so hard to survive, and his people are trying so hard to save him! He had a good night last night, and so far all is well this morning. They have his pain under control..and as long as he keeps fighting, his people will help him! Keep praying for Barbaro...he is really something special!

i heard a report on Sportscenter last night, 7/13, that Barbaro maybe feeling better, but he has just been diagnosed with a hoof disease that is very serious and could cripple him for the rest of his life. In fact, some horses that come down with the condition, "walk themselves right out of the hoof". So although he has recovered from his Kentucky Derby mishap, he has a long path of recovery ahead of him.

Barbaro is not feeling better, he had a serious setback this past week. His chances of survival are at less than 50/50 now and he is in the horse equivalent of intensive care.

As of this morning he's taken a turn for the worse. Bless his heart, he's got this far. Losing such a magnificent animal is a shame.
I don't think he has been to stud or his sperm banked, so losing him just doubles the tragedy.

I pray you are right! However, the most recent news I heard was that he has now developed laminitis in his left hind leg, (what killed Secretariat), after putting too much weight on it after getting a serious infection in the injured right leg.
Everybody keep praying for him!

Its just a horse. I've never met the horse. I am more concerned about my dog. She threw up this morning after she ate.

Two days ago he was 'fighting for his life'... now he feels better?
That was a quick turnaround.
