I know they are not a good team or bad but most people picked them to lose 100 games. Which they won't. I'm just hopeing they will provide a scare in the wild card to prove more critics wrong (just for laughs)

I'm not at all surprised. All you have to do is look at Baseball America's top prospects ranking, and you would have seen Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco and Scott Olsen all listed as guys who would be contributing soon. Add them to a staff that already has Dontrelle Willis, and there's no reason this team can't win games.

Miguel Cabrera is the quietest superstar in the game (look at his numbers already at such a young age), and guys like Hermida and Willingham have huge upsides. They've also got more than they probably ever expected of Uggla, who seemed destined to be a career minor leaguer. Joe Girardi deserves some credit, too, for being a good teacher to these kids.

Everyone counted this team out after their post-World Series fire sale in 1997, and they came back to win another title six years later. It seems to be a cycle with them - some terrible years leading up to a few years of contention, and I think that's what is beginning again right now. If they can just hold on to Ramirez, Cabrera and their young pitchers, they'll be a true contender.

I definately am. They got rid of every good player on the team with the exception of Willis and Cabrera. It goes to show you how good of a job Joe Girardi is doing . They definately have a chance at the wild card in the NL but shouldnt really have a real chance after that. Their payroll is almost 10 times less then the Yankees. Thats quite an accomplishment.

I remember when Joe Girardi was playing for the Yankees, everyone said he would be a terrific manager when he retired. I think we are seeing why people were saying that. They were 11-31 to start the year but Girardi hasn't let them quit and clearly Florida has done a great job developing young talent in the minors. It's a shame the Miami area will never warm up to them no matter how good they are.

I am very surprised, but your young players have really stepped up and proven themselves to be men under the guidance of Joe Girardi. I think you'll be back in the world series in 3-4 years if management holds onto the talent they have and adds more as the team gets to the point of needing 1 or 2 players to make a serious run.

No, for a couple reasons:
1. The NL is weaker this year
2. The Marlins do have some studs in their lineup
3. Like everyone else playing the Marlins, they are not taken seriously. Big mistake on their part
4. They have a solid manager
5. They traded for some great prospects
6. There's no pressure for them to perform well because no one expects them to perform well. But, here's to the UGGLAiest team in baseball. I love the underdog

I am quite a bit surprised. After having yet another "fire sale", I expected 100 losses in Florida this year. Girardi is doing an awesome job and should get consideration as Manager of the Year.

the marlins are not good at all, and need to trade miguel cabrera to the cardinals. If they were in first place, I would be surprised, but they are gonna do what everyone expected them to do, that is be below the top in their division and miss the playoffs, just as they are supposed to. This is what happens when you get rid of most of the players that helped you win the world series. Thanks for Edgar renteria.
