Go to http://www.moneysupermarket.com/refusedcredit - I was turned down twice for a personal loan and with the help of this site and the people who called me I was sorted with no problem. There is also Ocean Finance, Picture Loans, First Plus, Yes Loans, Friendly loans and Debt buster loans but some of them ask that you are a homeowner. Some of them are good though but watch out for high Interest rates a good rate us usually around 7-8% any higher than that look elsewhere

Don't go to a loan shark. Look in the finance pages of the daily papers. Companies here will probably lend you £500 at astronomical rates. That is how they can afford to advertise in the papers. They need YOUR business. Always negotiate though for the best deal oossible.

Keep away from money sharks as they will skin you alive and quite legally.
There are reputable companies that cater for people in your position. If you are in UK look up Cattles and Provident Finance . Both are big public companies subject to public scrutiny.

you should be able to get it from the bank you wll just have to pay higher interest. If they won't try sub-prime lenders such as household finance corp. Their interest rate is high.
