You meet an alien on a detested island, and he cant understand a word you say. The only thing you have to eat is a box of strawberries. Your new friend is not sure if he can eat them,
Question: how do you describe the strawberries to him. Bearing I mind he has no common frame of reference with you. I.e. he cant understand sweet, bitter etc????

i would put one in my hand and one in the alien's hand and do hand signals showing the alien to mock me like it i put it up to my mouth he would do the same, then i would bite and show him to do the same. Hopefully i would have more than just 2 strawberries because if he liked it i wouldnt want him to eat me next thinking i tasted like a strawberry.

What would it matter anyway if he can't understand a word I say? It doesn't matter how I describe it or what words I use, he still won't understand. I guess the best way would be to eat it in front of him making very pleased and delighted facial expressions.

screw the alien I don't know how long I have to be there may as well keep them for me. haha. maybe eat the alien too if I get hungry enough. then maybe some fish. and are you sure there are no coconuts there cause those are good too. don't eat the sand though or you will have a bad stomach ache.

Nothing you can say to him will help, you could only hope he would eat them by over exaggerating the eating of one & the repetition of this until he copied you.
