I have/had what the breeder called a "Choco-Golden Knee", which looks like a big rosehair. It's a juvinile, with a body about an inch or so, and it's legs made her at least 5 inches wide. I thought it was an interesting and simple pet until about 15 minutes ago...it's gone and it's angry and hungry! I have 4 cats and a 40 pound dog. What would happen if it bit one? OR ME?!?

I just wanted to ask how did he get out?? Anyway the bee sting thing is total not true, The bit all depends on the type of tarantula and on the person themselves. Like a bee if you are allergic you can be in big trouble. But if it go out at that size most of the people are right it is most likly that you cat or dog will get to it first. I had a friend whos curly got out and her two cats uses it as a play toy and killed it before my friend found it. Good luck and I hope you find it. Choco's are so pretty.

Can the tarantula hurt the cats? Not if the cats eat the tarantula first....and that is what is more likely to happen. A tarantula bite is not, traditionally, as bad as, say, a brown recluse or a black widow bite.
So, if the tarantula doesn't make it to the great wide open of the outdoor world, it'll likely become a fun toy and then a tasty treat.

You can call a local vet and they will tell you about that type of Tarantula but there bite is about the same as a hornets sting.

Unless you are llergic to bee stings, you and your pets are fine. Tarantulas don't like to roam much so look for it in small cave-like areas where it will be lying in wait for prey to pass by.

its probably in more danger of getting hurt by the cats than of your cats getting hurt.

a tarantula bite is similar to a bee sting. it can hurt like heck but its not life threatening.

It will not bet if you got it from a pet shop because the fangs that they bite with to kill there prey should have been removed so no problems to your pets and you
