A cover is great if available. Use polish not wax. I have been using NuFinish car polish for over 20 years on all of my cars and it has served me quite well. It says on the bottle that it's the once a year car polish, and although it is good, I get better results with 2 coats twice a year.

wax it at the start of every season, between waxings, use touch less carwash and use a polish once or twice in between seasons. before every wax session, use a concentrated soap with a GOOD car wash cloth to remove old wax and polish deposits. by every season, i mean spring, summer, fall, winter. oh yea, in winter, wash it every week to get road salt off, if they use salt on the roads.

Keep it clean and keep it waxed. Also, keep it out of the sun as much as possible, like in a garage if you have one.

LOL, to not drive it at all, keep it covered and wax it constantly. A more realistic answer would be to hand wax it everytime you have it washed.
