I found a snail in my yard the other day. It was the first time I saw a snail and I named it Gary. He's such a sweetie.

Where do they come from? Um, older snails.
They can live for several years (far more than three, as mentioned above). Incidentally, they are part of the order Gastrpodae. The largest snail is the Giant African Land Snail, which will grow to the size of a tall mans foot (in terms of length... the shell would be about the size of the same mans clenched fist). The snails that are eaten in France and other countries are not garden snails, but a specific species called either the Roman Snail or (more obviously) The Edible Snail. As the former name suggests, the Romans were also fans of eating them. They are actually rather tasty, and are cooked in their shells with a lot of garlic.
There are thousands of species of snails world wide, of various sizes and colours. They are closely related to cockles and other sea dwelling shelled gastropods.

When a man snail and a lady snail love each other very much, they have a cuddle and a while later, a baby snail appears.
I don't know how long they live for though.

Snails come from little round houses. They live until some Frenchman has them for dinner.

Snails live in moist habitats pretty much everywhere, some live underwater, and they can live for up to 3 years.
