This book is fiction but I believe the church can't be right about everything that happened thousands of years ago and the more the story of Christ was told the more the facts became distorted (ever hear of chinese whispers) but who are we to say to someone everything you believe is wrong? I was raised a Roman Catholic and although I do not agree with everything I have been thought I do believe there is more to this life than facts & figures and that it is our responisability to live our lives as best we can. Belief is a personal thing and we are all intitled to that.

The well know British Historian and Comedian proved most of the points of both Holy Blood Holy Grail and the Da Vinci code to be wrong about a year ago in a TV programme.

The Da Vinci Code is not "fact." You showed your bias before you even received any answers.

Well, it's a work of fiction, so I really don't consider anything in it to be "fact". I do think it has some interesting theories, and I'm pretty sure most of them are supported by actual evidence, but not enough to turn the "theories" into "facts" just yet. The fact that the Catholic church is in a tizzy about it makes me think perhaps the theories are on the right track.

I don't agree with the Da Vinci code.

It annoys me that people that know nothing about the Catholic religion, read the book and think they know all about the 'secrets' of the catholic world.

I find it insulting that people actually believe the book and it insults my religion.

Sorry rather fed up with all this Da Vinci code crap!

The so called "facts" in the Davinci code don't matter. It is a work of FICTION. The author may claim any facts he chooses to be true or untrue because it is a work of FICTION. What is all the controversy about?

Nobody should! The book nor the film claim to be facts.
It is fiction a,d I hope the hype ends already.
The Catholic church can even be glad whit it cos it does not show any of the real dangers of organizations such as Opus Dei.
It also doesn't say anything about the real secrets,

I started to read Holy Blood Holy Grail, which explains some of the theorem around it. Got bored with that and I decided I liked it as a work of fiction and nothing more.
