i think you can win prizes
but i think they are basically a tool to keep the forum regulated....so that one asshole doesn't ask a million stupid questions...see you have to actually answer questions and earn points to ask questions, and when your points run out, you can't ask anymore.

they were originally there to keep people who haven't used it much from coming on and abusing the system lower levels get fewer questions and answers....
