S. Morganstern was the author created by the real author of the book. Supposedly, S. Morganstern was from Florin, and the author's father, who was also from Florin, had the book, and read it to him when he was sick. When the author grew up, he tried to find it for his own son, but when he did, he found that most of it was really a history of Florin, and his son hated it, so he decided to write a "good parts" version of it. The book the movie is based on includes the other parts, too, but the author keeps cutting in, saying not to read them, because they're part of the boring part. If you ever read it, follow his advice.

The Princess Bride is a true fantasy classic. William Goldman describes it as a "good parts version" of "S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure." Morgenstern's original was filled with details of Florinese history, court etiquette, and Mrs. Morgenstern's mostly complimentary views of the text.
thats why morganstern is always mentioned on the cover

What Laks says is accurrate. However, it is important to note that 'Morganstern' never actually existed. William Goldman invented him too.
