My favorite wepon is my Ithaca 12 gauge shot gun. Its really old and really cool. Any ithaca i see i want. They are great guns. my other favorite long guns are the henry rifles, all of them are pretty cool. As for hand guns I want a bersa thunder 380. I like all of my knifes, but my favorite one is a blue and silver frost knife. its really sharp. Everything is legal in ILL, but you have to jump through hoops to get the card that says you can own one. They were supposed to get rid of it when they inacted the federal background check, but being that this is ill they didn't. I fell that it sucks @ss

M-4 is a great gun as is the AK-47. M-4 is great cuz it has much destructive power and is relatively short for how accurate it is. The AK will never jam and is a short lighter version of the SKS, but it comes down to what you need a weapon for. For my urban purposes I prefer a .40 cal pistol. Sig Sauer or the H&K. These are very accurate pistols that are easily concealed so that you can stash it in your car or on your person where a cop is going to have to have a very good reason to search. Also the .40 cal has better stopping and put down power than any 9mm. 9mm tends to pass through a person and could take many bullets or the hitting of a vital spot to put the person down. .45 cal has great stopping power but the kick on the gun makes for difficult accuracy when you rapid fire. Most .40 cal has a larger round capacity than the .45 and is the cops weapon of choice.

I have a MAK 90 (AK-47 Semi Auto) with polymer furniture, a shortened tube, a red dot sight and an improved trigger. I use the 20 round magazines because they are much handier in tight spots and for firing prone.
It is rugged, durable, easy to use, easy to maintain and not too particular about what I feed it. Fairly accurate at medium distances (200 metres) it packs more punch than a lot of carbines.
I keep it at the ready in a nylon case with a few extra mags and a cleaning kit. Also, a Swedish Army Mora knife: light, super sharp, super quality at surplus store prices that make them almost disposable. I have a whole box of them.
Oh yeah, totally legal, I live in Texas. I have several dozen rifles and carbines and target shoot several times a month. I have an AR, but I'm thinking of selling it to get a few more AKs.

I am kind of partial to my Kimber .45 ACP. As far as a rifle goes, I have a Browning 300 that will do the job nicely.

Anything put out by the Israeli Military Industries! The new Gahlil(sp?) bull pup sub-machinegun would be #1 on my list. #2 would be the very similar P90.

My carry weapon when off duty is OC Spray, also known as pepper spray. It works and when you use it you don't have to worry about all the laws pertaining to guns. You most likely won't be charged with anything as long as you're defending yourself.

The AK-47. Bury it in mud, hide it in water, abuse it, whatever. It fires when needed. Easy to clean and re-assemble.
Hard to find ammo for right now.

My mind, my brain and my logic is a kind of a "weapon". I believe in the power of creativity and logic not in the power of destruction using weapons....
Well I got a "gun", metaphorically speaking and collection of knives.....but only for those purposes, to admire them not to destroy anyone....
