All the "GAS CITY" gas stations in Chicago southwest and west suburbs (I did not go to other suburbs) have different priceboard prices and pump prices. The priceboard prices are always 30 to 40 cents lower than the actual pump prices.

First I would go talk to the clerk at your local GAS CITY station. Ask them about their pricing and if they do not give you a sufficient answer, you should report them to www.ripoffreport.com. You can email them at editor@ripoffreport.com. Good luck.

Illegal, false advertising. Gas stations typically change their prices only by a few cents, not by 30 or 40 cents. If they had just changed gas prices and gas was a few cents more expensive than advertised, then I don't think it would be a problem. But 30 or 40 cents is a significant amount of difference, considering the norms for gas station price changing.

The pump price is the price they have to stick by. I would at least gritch about the "false advertising" though because the price boards ARE suppose to be updated as the pump price changes.

It is not cheating if the correct price is on the pump. That is what you are going to pay. If you see a discrepancy in prices between the priceboard and the pump, you are always free to leave. I always look at the pump price.

I would think that it is cheating. I would be hella pissed to think i was going to buy gas at 304 and its really 334...

I think that is considered illegal - it is false advertising and if they were reported - they could be in a lot of trouble.
