i'm new to this. i have pictures of houses scanned into my computer and want to create a link that people visiting my web site can click onto and view the work that i've done. then click on the picture to enlarge it. all i have through yahoo is the domain registration and they provided the format for the starter page. do i need to download special programs to design my own home page and create links (about us, designers, contractors, pictures, etc.)? or is that available through the yahoo control panel? mainly, what i want to do immediately, is post my pictures on my web site under a link on my home page.

I have the exact same starter page as you - http://www.nhcomputerservice.com . With our level of service from Yahoo! we only get the one page and nothing else. There are three easy options available to you:

1) Upgrade your service with Yahoo! and select an option that comes with storage space. The next level up for us is $11.95/month with 5GB of storage. Starting with this level, you will get a whole new web editing tool with file upload, image management, the works. Go to where can edit your page and click on Enhance Your Service - bottom left.

2) The other option for you is to forward your domain to another place on the web. For instance, if you are a high-speed Internet subscriber (cable, DSL, whatever) your probably have about 25MB storage space available to you from your provider. The your provider's homepage for information about your personal pages. Almost all come with some sort of website builder for free, although limited in space.

3) Forward your domain to a free web service like geocities.com and create your pages there. Problem with this is almost all free hosting sites come with additional advertising that you probably don't want.

I would guess there is a HTML Page editor and a file uploader. Upload your work - get the adress and then if you want to create a link on your site use the following code replasing the relvent bits:
