In the last about five thousand years, over 4000 small and big battles and wars have been fought on this earth. And surprisingly, the reason behind over 96 per cent wars, was religion in one way or the other. Even today in this twenty first centurty, the terrorism activities have only religious reasons.
Accordingly, the logicsays that atheists are better human beings because they have no Religious Brands and Tags on their chests. Of course, one can be a good Christian, a good Hindu, a good Sikh, a good Jew or a good Muslim but if one wants to be a good HUMAN BEING, then one will have to shed all these labels and be over and above such petty thoughts which divide the humanity.
Consequently, coming to your question, it is difficult for an atheist to be a killer or a rapist. That does not mean that only the Believers do commit such crime, but there is every possibility that atheist dont commit such crimes. Surprisingly, you will also notice that world's top politicians, film stars, sportsmen, scientists, philosophers, writers and so on, generally don't practice religions. I am sorry for my independent views but I dont mean to hurt the feelings of anybody who reads my answer. To be agree or not to be agree is everybody's birthright. Thanks.

actually...anyone who has never been baptised/christened is concidered athiest...there are many "atheists" who believe in god and consider them selves christians... so to answer your question...yes i'm sure there have been...
