I'm not quite sure but I thought it was a GREAT movie

There were concerns that it would stoke anti-Semitism; originally it had a scene which has historically be used to blame the Jews for the death of Christ ("His blood be on us and on our children"). Also, Mel Gibson's father is extremely anti-Semitic, and Gibson is part of a group which has historically been somewhat anti-Semitic.

The film was also uncharacteristically violent. Then there was the fact that Mel Gibson, big Hollywood celebrity, had a conversion and was doing a religious film. And not only was doing it, but bankrolling it personally. Then people complained that he made so much money from it (figure that out, since when is making money on movies immoral in Hollywood?)

With respect to Islam, I would much rather worship a God who is a Father and was kind and compassionate enough and loved us enough to become one of us and walk a mile in our shoes and die so that we could be saved, than a god who considers us no more than slaves or animals (rather than children).

I don't know why so many Americans made such a fuss over it. I think he did a marvelous job depicting what our LORD suffered to save us from our sins. We saw it at the theater. It was very intense, to say the least. And I'm not sure I could ever watch it again. But I'm glad we went to see it.

Perhaps people cannot accept the level of suffering He endured for us. I felt it on a deeply emotional and spiritual level. It makes me even more grateful for His love and sacrifice so that I can spend eternity in heaven with Him.

Well Im not sure if scandal is what you would call it. Yes everyone was talking about it and going to go see it. I guess the reason it was a popular movie is because religion is a very controversial topic in America.

Because if a film is considered controversial everyone wants to go and see it. Similar to a book, everyone wants to read it. Music too, that's how the Sex Pistols a talentless bunch managed to break into the charts. Doesn't mean its any good, simply hype to get punters to part with their money. And so many gullible ones out there are too ready to do just that.

The subject matter may have been controversial to some, but it was just a film made by a Hollywood film company.
Controversial productions sell BIG at the box office.

It didn't really make a scandal, but people were concerned that it would heighten anti-Semitic fervor because it showed how complicit the Jewish authorities and people were in handing Christ over for crucifixion. Some people were afraid that it was so powerful that it could influence other people to commit hate crimes.

because believe it or not in america if you show any thing that is a hint of anti semetic you are considered a terrorist. didn't you know this? jewish people in america are the only ones who are not allowed to be made fun of or told what they do is wrong. the christians believe them to be the chosen people of god so the fact that mel depicted jews killing jesus they said it was anti semetic and christians need to ban the movie. same thing with the palestinians and arabs. if they complain about getting killed and watching their kids get blown up and want to retaliate they are considered terrorists as well.

I saw the movie, and I thought it was great, there was another jesus movie years ago that also caused trouble, last temptation of christ i think it was called. I have no idea why the films caused any probs tho, I wonder if those who wanted them banned had actually bothered to watch the films thru?
I found that most hadn't bothered, certainly the idiot ho was stood all on his lonesome, outside my local cinema, with his little plackard :-)
And i'm not even christian ;-)

I know many Christians that converted to Islam after that movie.
Did all that happen do (what you call) God? or the son of God?

Our God is a lot higher, and a lot more powerfull that He sent Messengers to send the Message, not swiching to a human or sending His son.

Come on guys.. just give your self some time and think about it deeper. compair between God in Islam and God in Christianity.

Who's really worth worshipping?

Because the U.S. is a post-Christian nation. The liberal media and liberal hollywood fear Christianity and the conviction that it brings and the stand it takes for righteousness. It's the worst right now in America because America has just begun to decay.
