hahahah!!! that's an awesome question....that'd be like an Italian naming their kid Wop...

(note: Charlie was used to describe the Vietnamese during the war)

That is the nice thing about living in the U.S. . No matter who you are or where your family lines stem from, you can do whatever you want. Despite the fact the military used the name Charlie to refer to Asians, she doesn't need to know that. That time is long gone. More power to the Asian woman who chooses to name her son Charlie! And may she have many more children!

Are you asking because, "charlie" was used as a military slang for asians?
I dont think that it should be a big deal. Usually only old white men still use that term to reffer to the asian culture

Why wouldn't it be proper? A mother can name her child whatever she wants. If a mother can name her child Apple or a father can decide he wants his child to be names Kal-el, shouldn't an asian mother be allowed to name her child Charlie!?

Why not? Charlie is a good name. If you like the name, go for it.

What's the problem with that? A lot of Asian kids born in the US have American names.

why wouldn't it be? It would almost be stereotypical to assume that an Asian mom MUST give her childe an Asian name.

It is her son and she should name him whatever she feels like belongs to him. If it is Charlie or Rumpelstiltskin, I bet you and her love him just the same!
