I believe this will draw down... I am not a war-monger but I believe this is the best change for a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities... this of course would bring the conflict into the "unknown" but someday it will have to be done. Iran is aiding Hezbollah and may have even assisted in missile attacks on Haifa. I hope Israel annihilates Syria and Iran... without states such as these, peace could be achievable in this region.
Unfortunately, there are so many other factors involved for western countries and others as Russian and China... economically, these countries as well as France, have massive trade and energy deals with Iran. They feel they are not targets of this regime because of this. The funny thing is... Iran also supports the Chechnya terrorists in Russia. We are all targets... they are just prolonging the pain because they do not have the means to deal with them any other way right now and they let the US and Israel do the dirty work.

No it will be a dark day when the world goes once again to war. i would rather be in another country and if possible i would try to fight this doomed country's . our pres is already unpopular with the libs and dems. the people will say no to any military involvement unless the country was attacked. still i don't think that will help the pres approval rating. no thing on this planet would make me what to join.

I am an Indian, and I am not happy. Our political system and the politicians do not inspire us, the Indians. A spineless government is in place, with an Italian queen at the helm and we could not contain the serial bombings that are rocking all over the country. With many Meier Sadiques like Mulla, Arjuna, Aloo, how could we go into WW III? We will loose the war before it is started.

How would China be more powerful than US? Sheer numbers no longer means much in terms of Millitary power. That's old thinking. What matters these days is technology and training. It would be a very costly war, but the U.S. would come out on top, definitely.

Proud to be American? Ashamed you mean...? Everybody hates us so how could we possibly get out of that? And if it's really a WW3, China would be much more powerful than the US.

Retard. If this was Sparta, someone like you would have been thrown to the ground from the high wall and killed when you were 2 days old and we would never have to deal with ********* like you. Go sign up if you want to. Come back in a bag.

you probably won't get a chance to fight, and although as fun as it would be to have several hot, searing machine gun bullets rip through your torso, and lose a leg and an eye, and spend the rest of days in wheelchair having a nurse you can't afford, wiping your ***, ... what will probably happen is the world wide radiation cloud will wash over the everyone in the U.S. and all your hair and teeth will slowly fall out, as you deal with constant nausea and eventually die of sickness and starvation.
umm... "Hell Yeah"!!!

I agree with the other answerer, stay the f*ck out of it its none of your stupid business. Why are so many Americans so pathetic and violent? Prick! I couldn't be happier to NOT be American.

Yes, very happy to be American...however, we're going to be right in the thick of it. Here's a scary thought: WWIII technically already started. Here is the rundown:
WWIII Started in 1979
In November 1979, in a country going through a religious and political upheaval, a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency.
America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.
Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. These attacks were against US.
In April of 1983, a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it exploded, it killed 63 people.
Six short months later in 1983, a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed.
The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.
Then in August 1985, a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 were killed. (That's not even an hour from where I live!)
Fifty-nine days later in 1985, a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.
The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986, that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in1988, killing 259.
In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured.
Then in November 1995, a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.
A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500.
They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224.
The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and explodes killing 17 US Navy Sailors.
This is all from a speech (I revised it, shortened it a bit, believe it or not) by Captain Ouimette, the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida at the time the speech was made. I'm unsure of the date, but the message is the same. I remember most of these. WWIII has been coming for a long time; it is inevitable. We may be able to delay it slightly, but at what cost? Would it be better maybe to just have it out and get it over with?
You ask some valid questions also, and to be quite honest...this is a different world from the one that existed just after the first two World Wars. The beatniks, and then the hippies, have changed the world completely. Not all in bad ways, but they've changed it.
Viet Nam cost us our will to fight. It crippled us militarily. Personally, I don't think many will survive a third World War. I believe it was Einstein who said that he didn't know what WWIII would be fought with, but WWIV would be fought with sticks and stones.
That to me is scary. But that's what we're in for. The only question is when?

I often wonder if America has the balls, or stomach for war. The war on terror seems to show we don't. Or at least some of us don't. I'm glad the WWII generation was not like our generation today, or we might all be speaking German right now.
