Definately not DELL, they are poorly made. You could have trouble.
HP is OK, but some of my customers had some trouble, that got resolved.
I highly recommend Toshiba. Get it from a store that will accept returns without hassle or restocking fee. That means Costco or Wal-mart. You can actually see the Toshiba in the store, so decide from what you see. Should you have trouble, the Toshiba tech support people are awesome. They answer the phone quick and really know the product. Oddly enough, they don't speak with an unusual accent or use big words. You will understand them.
One thing that you probably don't know. Nearly 10 percent of all computers are BORN DEAD or have issues.

Dell all the way, they have excellent machines, plus if something goes wrong, they are very helpful and supportive. Just watch out for all the add-ons they try to sell to you while you are ordering. I am an assistant IT Manager at The Ohio State University and have set up hundreds of Dells and HP's. What I have learned is that Dell is better for buying computers from and HP is the only way to go when getting a printer. Have a good one!

Go with Dell... if you are choosing between Dell & HP. As a PC Technician for 6 years now, HP includes so much junk software with their PC's... Also, if your HP computer were to crash and require formatting, they include their own version of a System Restore with is NOT flexible at all. Basically, you have to re-install the PC the way they say so. Dell, on the other hand, includes a WinXP disk and allows you to configure Windows the way you like it.

Either product is good.
I've spent 35 years as a computer programmer. I have a Dell Latitude but think just as highly of the HP. HP also has the advantage of it wide range of printers and scanners. I mainly buy Dell because I am familiar with their products and their service is decent.

Hp, if you have any problems whatsoever you will want to deal with HP tech support. Dell is horrible in terms of cusmoter service.

HP, they have great deals right now, you'll regret ever buying a Dell when it stops working for no reason.

Go with HP. If all you care about is screens though...you shouldn't be buying a computer just yet.
