Hi! I'm an Audiologist.
Yes, bugs do crawl into people's ears. I've seen ants and cockroaches. If it was there, the doctor would have seen it and removed it.
Some ear problems are not easily visible and the best way to know what's going on is to see an Ear, Nose ant Throat (ENT/otolaryngologist) and to have a comprehensive Audiological Evaluation, including tympanometry.
The tympanogram is a measure of how well the eardrum and middle ear are responding to and transmitting to the sound vibrations. For example, if there is fluid behind the eardrum, it will not move. The hearing test will determine the softest sounds you can hear and how well you can distinguish speech sounds. This will show if the problem is a blockage of sound in the outer or middle ear, or if there is an inner ear problem.
Last I heard, Foxxy Brown had surgery and may recover some hearing -- I'm not finding anything that says what type of surgery it was.

Like anything else that gets infected it swells. Your ear canal is very small so when it swells it swells shut thus the result is hearing diminished. As your ear heals it will go back to normal. Does your ear still hurt? If so go back to the doctor. Drink plenty of water this will help cool the ear canal and help with swelling reduction also take over the counter Ibuprofen(motrin) it could take up to 2 weeks for you to notice change. It will start to crackle or tickle like there is something in your ear. But it is just the canal opening back up and letting in the air.

No. I don't think it is infection. If it would have been an infection it would have at least minimised in 10 days. Therefore it seems a problem related to nerve deafness.
You should go to a skilled acupuncturist. He will solve the problem. No surgery will also help in that case but spoil your ear.

Go back to the doctor if you are not happy with the diagnosis. Ask to be referred to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor as they specialize in that area.
Make sure you end up getting the answers you are happy with and a treatment that you are comfortable with.

Perhaps there could have been an insect that did crawl into your ear. They are called earwigs but I know nothing else about them. You might want to research anything you can find out about it, ask your friend if they ever had any problems with their ears or earwigs. Keep pressuring your doctor to help you.
Take care!

I knew someone that got a bug in his ear canal once. He had to have it removed. Maybe a flee? Dig deeper...
