Here, here... You're right, man. If anything they should have to put it up if they don't want us pissing on it. I can't tell you how many times I have wizzed on "The fuzzy top" because I had to put the seat/lid down.

Well, right back at you, is it that hard putting it down yourself?
I think it should be put down by the men because both men and women need to use it at some point with the seat down so it should not be left up.

It falls under the category of politeness and good manners.
If you don't understand the purpose of politeness and good manners, they are to make your personal presence around others as pleasant as possible.
When your presence is pleasant, that is, you are easy to be around, live with, etc., people get to know and like/love the real you. At the very least, your 'life functions' will be less offensive to others.
You will be invited more places by more people. In a word, you become more socially acceptable and popular.
It used to be considered a sign of "good breeding" and only ladies and gentlemen (read: the privileged) were taught proper manners.
Since today all of us are to be considered 'equal', the burden of having manners and raising your children with manners has fallen to everyone, although by today's standards this hardly seems to be the case.
If you were not raised to be a polite and considerate person around others, do not despair. You can teach yourself.
What I am referring to does not mean being fake or stiff...you are not English Nobility and should not pretend to be.....it means being graciously considerate of others in all of the little things you do.

No...it's not hard to put the seat down unless you're in a hurry and almost don't make it to the bathroom on time. I don't get upset until that happens actually. It just sucks to take it for granted that the seat is gonna be down....and then plop! You fell much farther than you thoght!

Why should we have to touch it after you probably peed all over it! It is just common courtesy. Also, in the middle of the night, I don't turn on the light as to not wake my hubby and it is no fun to fall in the damn toilet because you guys left the seat up!

Lots of the girls I know who live with men say touching the toilet seat is icky, and they aren't the ones who put it up to begin with so why should they put it down?

They way I see it is being more decent of the man to put the seat back down after using it. also who'd want to touch something you possibly peed on. Common Courtesy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think about for 20mins you'll see it our way.

I agree. Why do I have to touch the seat after her butt has been on it. Why doesn't she put it up when she is done? Doesn't that make more sense?
