I think Iverson tends to take a lot of shots because he's never had a lot of other options on such a poor team. Still, he manages to have good assist numbers, and I think anyone would love to have him on their team.
Kobe likes to shoot the ball a lot, but he's an awesome scorer. I don't personally like him or the Lakers all that much, but I can't knock the guy - he's amazing. Could he afford to pass more? Sure, he could, but when he tried that last season he was criticized for not shooting enough. Because of his off-court troubles, I think he'll always be given a hard time.

You don't determine whether a guy is a ballhog or not by just looking at assist numbers. Some of the biggest ball hogs in the game rack up the assists. Why? Because they force it into the lane and occasionally kick it out for wide open looks only when they get into serious trouble. For instance, when Jerry Stackhouse led the league in scoring as a Detroit Piston, he averaged about 5 assists per game, which is pretty darn good considering he was kind of a ball hog. But, that was only because guys would be wide open because opposing teams knew he wouldn't pass. Then on the occasions he would, they'd have a wide open shot.
The real way to determine whether a guy is a ball hog is to look at his field goal percentage. That's how you determine whether a guy is taking high percentage shots or not. Dwayne Wade shot just under 50% from the field this past season and about 60% from the field during the playoffs. That's amazing for a two-guard, which indicates that he doesn't take low percentage shots.
However, the other way to determine whether or not he's a ball hog is to look at his turnovers and more specifically his assist-turnover ratio. Be careful when looking at this, though, because in Wade's case, he has to handle the ball a LOT, which of course would dramatically increase his chances of turning it over.
Still, he's notorious for turning the ball over. 4.2 in 2004-2005 and 3.6 in 2005-2006. Plus, he averaged between 3-4 during this last playoff run.
So, is he a ball hog? I'm not sure I'd go so far as calling him a ball hog, since handling the ball so much and attacking is what the coach tells him to do. When Kobe had Shaq he was certainly a ball hog, because he would score outside of the set offense. Often plays would be called for other players and he would just disregard the coach's orders. Wade isnt' like that. That being said, he certainly has some room to improve as far as taking care of the ball goes. And, since he can improve in that area (as well as developing a more consistent three point shot) it's downright scary how good he might be by the end of his career.
Now, as for Kobe. He used to be, as I said, but I was really impressed with how much he improved his attitude in that regard this year. He took more shots, but his turnovers went down significantly and his field goal percentage increase from about 43% to a very solid 45% - which is even more impressive since the defenses are always focusing on him. He takes so many shots because his team sucks. If he's not on that roster, they're one of the worst in the whole league.

The Lakers don't have a garbage team, they actually made the playoffs last year and will advance one round further this year.
As for Kobe being a ball hog, yes he is, but he showed in the Phoenix series he didn't take as many shots and looked like an all-around better player. The team played better statistically when he took less shots. Watch for his scoring average and shots taken to drop next year.
Iverson is going to take lots of shots because he doesn't have much of a supporting cast. Webber is slow from his knee injury. Delambert isn't that much of a scoring threat. Who is he going to pass to? Iverson wil have to put up big numbers because they don't have any other options.

elementary, cuz they are. 2005-2006 Kobe Bryant 2173 FG tried, more advantageous than 27 a recreation, second on the Lakers, Odom at 925, about 11 a recreation. Kobe took more advantageous than double the images of the subsequent closest. in actuality, in the finished NBA, no individual shot more advantageous than Kobe. LeBron replaced into #2 with 1823 then Iverson at 1822. After the large 3 ball hogs, Arenas in common words took 1668 pictures. besides, in ft tries, the right 3 are AI, Kobe, and LeBron, and because once you're fouled its not a FG attempt, those numbers ought to genuinely be skewed even extra in case you truthfully ought to make sure what number pictures they extremely took, fouled or not. So, to respond to your question, we call Iverson and Kobe ball hogs because they are. no individual shoots extra, and passing the ball 5 situations in a recreation would not make you a passter, it ability you handed to the right guy who scored.

Kobe is a ballhog. Iverson is a bit of a ballhog but not as much as Kobe. Iverson dished out 7.3 assists last season which is a lot higher than his career average so at least he isn't consistently a ballhog. Kobe isn't a franchise player like Tim Duncan or Dwayne Wade or Dirk Nowitzki because the only player Kobe makes better is Kobe.

Kobe has the right to be a ball hog because the rest of his team sucks. But Iverson's is a different story. He has good players on his team like Webber and Iguodala.

Idiot, gunner, SHOOTER, Kobe bryant is a pure shooter. Allen Iversion is not. Just because you take alot of shots doenst make you a gunner. A perfect example of a gunner is antoine walker. Even though he had a more balanced game this year he is still considering a gunner becuase he loves to launch the 3's. And by no means is he on the level of KB8 or AI. And he doenst take nearly the amount of shots that either of them do.

I'm totally in love with Allen and I don't think he is in no way a ball hog, he is on a sorry *** team and should be a free agent so his skills can be fully used. As for Kobe is a ball hog and his time to shine is up; thanks too D Wade (my boo), Labron (OK), and all the new comers who are about to put him to shame.
question for you: do you think the Pistons were paid too lose or are they just tired of the spotlight or are they **** ups?

i dont think kobe is a ball hog at all. i mean, look at his team, who is he supposed to pass to to make the shots? if he has a chance to take a shot, he is the best person for it on the team.
