I really don't see that. Disney wanted to create "art" that taught, shared literature/cultural folklore, and that assisted technology. Fairy tales and mythology are filled with witchcraft. Blame the Brother's Grimm (Snow White), Mother Goose/Charles Perrault (Sleeping Beauty), Victor Hugo (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Chinese Folk Tales (Cinderella), Hans Christian Anderson (The Little Mermaid), or Dodie Smith (101 Dalmations). THESE people were the ones to write down these stories and Walt, well, he borrrowed them as so to introduce them to a whole new audience. 'nuff said.

it's not wicked...witchcraft is not in definition a bad thing. In disney there are evel witchs, yes, but also good fairies who use there magical powers for good.
Well, if you think disney is wicked, don't read fairlytales to children. A lot of witchcraft in those stories as well, wolfs eating grandmothers and little children, witches and gians eating children...horrible.
Let's put a ban on disney and fairy tales...not
the fairytales used by disney are always happy ended, while he original fairytales didn't always have a happy ending. Disney's version of the fairytales are less blooded and violent then the original fairytales no doubtely were. I mean, in the original cinderella the evel stepsisters cut parts of there feet to fit in the glas shoe. You don't see that in disney.
The little mermaid died in the story. Luckely she lives happely ever afer with prince eric in the disney movie.
fairytales were always used to teach the children lessons. Witchcraft was always a part of those stories.
All Disney did is that they made the fairy tales more suitebel for little children

I've seen all the movies at one time or another, and I honestly can't say whether or not Disney does have an actual position on magic, per se.
Regardless of good or evil applications, whenever it is in a movie, they always present magic to the Nth degree for the most visual, entertaining, and/or dramatic effect possible.
Hope this helps.

Walt Disney was heavily into the occult, and the content of disney cartoons/movies was mainly under his heavy-handed control. He was basically an evil control freak. He also hated any man who had a beard! Wierd or what? So no, I don't think you're reading too much into it - your question is based on fact.

A lot of those stories were around long before Disney. And that's all they are - stories. It's all about the human need to escape into fantasy. Some times real life is far worse.

how about this one. how come in the majority of disney cartoons, there is almost always either a tragic death of a parent, a single parent, or a parentless child type character?
ex: lion king, little mermaid, snow white, sleeping beauty, finding nemo, oliver and company, toy story 1 and 2, aladdin and sequals, lilo and stitch, cinderella, jungle book, etc.
and in many of the classic disney movies the villain is often a parental figure (step parent or parent) or a relative?

I think you're seeing signs and symbols where there isn't anything at all. Anyway, what's wrong with witchcraft? The most common religion related to witchcraft is Wicca and that's all about nature and peace. I think Christianity is a more wicked religion than Wicca. There's more violence in it.

If you mean wicked ,GREAT yes -- Disney films are !!!
And i believe, this talk of underlying witchcraft, in Disney's works to be utter nonsense
If anything Disney films, are on the moralistic side,
"WICKED" never !!
